Spring Break Tennis

Match Procedures

Please respect the starting and ending times of all matches. At Hilton Head Island Spring Break Tennis we do not have the luxury of unlimited court time. If you are playing a match of major ranking importance, please notify Ray no later than Dec. 1, so he can make proper scheduling adjustments. Arrangments can be made for umpires if requested.

Coaches make all arrangements for those teams they would like to play. Proceed to the Teams Registered List and contact any school you would like to play. Once you have a day, date, & time you would like to schedule a match, please fill out and submit the Match Request Form. We confirm the scheduling of all matches usually within 48 hours of receipt of any match request. Coaches need to make sure all their match scheduling information is accurate on the web site. Please remember that times and sites can change up to two weeks before your arrival.

Match sites and times aren't confirmed until BOTH teams have made court fee payments.

Exact sites and times can be changed up until the last minute. However, this doesn't occur often. Match sites will be listed at least two weeks in advance on the "Confirmed Match Schedule"

Match Play Procedures

All official matches will consist of three doubles and six singles matches with regular scoring. If time permits, you may play other exhibition matches. Doubles are 8 game pro sets, with a 12 pt. breaker at 8 all. Singles matches are the best of 3 sets, with 12 pt. breakers at 6 all. Scoring, the number of matches, etc. are up to the final choice of both coaches. This can be altered as long as both agree and the courts are relinquished at the appropriate time!

ONCE A MATCH IS DETERMINED, ALL THIRD SETS ARE TO BE PLAYED AS SUPER TIE BREAKERS!

Balls

Teams supply their own balls for all practices and match play. The usual procedure for a match is that each team supplies half of the necessary balls. Who supplies the balls is decided between the two coaches. Teams can bring their own balls or purchase balls on site. If you are purchasing balls from Spring Break Tennis, you need to order them before February 10.

Arrive on Time

Coaches should make every effort to arrive at their match site at least 15 minutes before their official warm-up time. Make sure you have checked your schedule, as each match has an official 1/2 hour warm-up time and if on 4 courts a 4 hour match time or if on six courts a 3 hour match time! Coaches need to be aware of the next match coming to your site and make every effort to vacate the courts so the next match can start on time. At some locations, we have no choice, if the match is to end at 4 pm, that means 4 pm, and we need to relinquish the courts for the next planned event at that site!

Reporting Scores
Please report your team scores to SBT Headquarters (843.842.0086) so we can get them in the next day's newspaper and post them on the SBT Website.
