Clint van Aswegen
Partner / Director of Tennis
Clint is the Director of Tennis at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort. He will be in charge of all the racket stringing and repair service for all spring break tennis players and coaches. Clint is also available for group and private instruction.
From the beginning, teaching tennis proved to be much more than simply earning a living for Clint Van Aswegen.
“I became a tennis pro to help support myself while trying to make the pro circuit,” Clint said. “I enjoyed my experience so much that after working in a non-tennis related field for a year and a half, I decided that without tennis I was going to be a very miserable person for the rest of my life.
“I enjoy the look on the students’ faces when they accomplish a task that until that moment seemed like a very tough task,” this Professional 1 member of USPTA said. His reward comes from “the confidence that they embrace and that thirst for more information now that everything is in the realm of possibility.”
Clint’s areas of expertise are stroke mechanics, court tactics and injury prevention (fitness).
Clint previously was employed at Duchess Racquet Club in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Clint’s goals as a tennis pro include getting as many young players as possible into college on tennis scholarships, introducing as many kids as possible to the game, coaching national tournament winners on the junior level and eventually taking a student all the way to the pro tour.
Clint played satellite tournaments on and off for five years (1991-’95). As a junior player, he was ranked fourth in South Africa, and he won the first-flight conference singles title while on full scholarship at Marist College in Poughkeepsie.
Clint studied international business at Marist College for two years, and earned a degree in business technology information and communication systems from St. Lawrence College in Brockville, Ontario, Canada.
Clint said his greatest accomplishment outside of tennis was starting a family with his wife. They had their first child, a son, in October 2001.
